Nickname: BUR (Named after Lance Berwald –  former NDSU basketball player)

Hometown: Fargo, North Dakota

Why are you in Fargo?

Having grown up in Fargo, I have not found a better place to live and raise a family.  This region is bursting with energy, opportunities and the world is only a flight away.

What do you do in your free time?

Travel, eat and meet interesting people.  This past summer we experienced a Poke bowl in Hawaii (now in Fargo!), historic chili hotdog at Ben’s chili bowl in Washington DC and Sammy’s pizza in Duluth.

What’s your favorite hidden gem that you’ve discovered so far in Fargo?

Not sure if it is hidden but it would be Bonanzaville.   It is so inspiring to connect to our past and to learn about legends like Herman Stern and how he was a trailblazer for social and economic activism and a holocaust rescuer.

How did you first hear of Emerging Prairie?

Started with Start Up Drinks.   I had the honor to be a drink captain and I was amazed by the energy and how people discussed big ideas and the connectedness of the entire experience.  In one night, I was able to connect with a diversity of thought that was inspiring, and it help me think in a much broader sense.

As a new member of the EP team, what are you most looking forward to?

To be at the intersections of big ideas, risk takers, problem solvers and communities. I can’t wait to get started with this talented and committed team to improve the human condition by taking these big ideas and help to define it, align the vision with objectives and creating a roadmap for success that can be celebrated.
