Scott A. Beaulier, executive director of the Center for Economic Liberty at Arizona State University, has been named dean of the College of Business at North Dakota State University. He will join the faculty this summer.NDSU Business Dean

The decision comes after two years of searching for a Dean, with Dr. Jane Schuch serving as interim dean since September 2014. A search committee was formed in April of 2014, lead by Provost Beth Ingram.

“I’m delighted that we have attracted Dr. Beaulier to NDSU from Arizona State University,” Ingram said. “I believe that he has the vision and energy to lead the College of Business.”

Before joining Arizona State University, Beaulier was executive director of Troy University’s Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy. At Troy University, he also was chair of the Division of Economics and Finance and held the title of Adams-Bibby Chair of Free Enterprise.

From 2004-10, he was at Mercer University, Macon, Georgia. While there, he was BB&T Distinguished Professor of Capitalism and director of the Center for Undergraduate Research in Public Policy and Capitalism.

Earlier in his career, he was an assistant professor of economics at Beloit College, Beloit, Wisconsin.

Beaulier’s vita lists 26 publications, 10 contributions to books or collected volumes, six book reviews and nine other publications or policy papers. His fields of interest include applied microeconomics, development economics and political economy.

He is a board member of the American Energy Alliance and the Institute for Humane Studies. Beaulier is also a board of scholars member for the Foundation for Economic Education and a member of the Mont Pelerin Society. To top it off, he is a contributor to RealClearMarkets and an editorial board member of the Journal of Entrepreneurship and Public Policy.

Beaulier earned his bachelor’s degree at Northern Michigan University, Marquette, Michigan, and his master’s degree and doctorate in economics at George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia.

He is also, as he writes on his Twitter, a runner, a yooper, and a Dad.
