
Fargo, ND — Emerging Prairie, an organization committed to energizing communities through innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology, proudly announces the appointment of Admiral Stuart Munsch to its Board of Directors.
Admiral Munsch, a native of Oakes, North Dakota, recently returned to his home state following a distinguished career in the United States Navy. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, and a White House Fellow serving at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Munsch brings decades of leadership experience at our nation’s highest levels of strategy, operations, and global collaboration. He is the fifth North Dakotan ever to achieve the rank of four stars in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Most recently, Munsch served as commander of Allied Joint Force Command in Naples, Italy, where he led a combined NATO staff responsible for planning and executing military operations across Europe. He concurrently served as commander of U.S. Naval Forces Europe and U.S. Naval Forces Africa, overseeing a vast area of responsibility spanning critical global waterways. His career also includes service on the Joint Staff as director for Joint Force Development and senior leadership roles within the Pentagon and U.S. Pacific Command.
Throughout his career, Munsch has been recognized for operational excellence, receiving numerous honors including multiple awards of the Defense Distinguished Service Medal and Navy Distinguished Service Medal, our nation’s highest non-combat military decorations.
Munsch has been engaged with Emerging Prairie for more than a decade, contributing as a two-time TEDxFargo speaker, a speaker at Drone Focus, and a frequent participant in the organization’s community and entrepreneurial programming. He has hosted discussions with founders and helped connect national leadership perspectives to North Dakota’s growing innovation ecosystem.
