Emerging Prairie Welcomes New Teammate: Emma McIntyre

Meet yet another one of Emerging Prairie’s new teammates, Emma McIntyre. Emma joins the team as Project Coordinator, with one of her main projects being TEDxFargo. She has been an intern on the events team with Emerging Prairie for the past two summers and has played a major role in TEDxFargo! Emma currently works remotely from Greely, CO since she is attending University of Northern Colorado. Next summer, Emma will return to Fargo to as the Emerging Prairie team helps organize the 10th TEDxFargo event! If you see Emma at TEDxFargo or one of Emerging Prairie’s events, be sure to say hi and thank her for her hard work and positive energy!

Get to know a little more about Emma below.

Nickname: Emma McIntyre

Hometown: Fargo, ND!

Why are you in Fargo?

Along with having the summer to spend time with my family, I love the entrepreneurial and arts community of Fargo, it just keeps drawing me home.

What do you do in your free time?

I LOVE projects + people. I swear I have a new hobby each week, so I currently spend the most of my free time on baking, calligraphy, and photography. While I’m at school in CO I hike was much as I have the time to. (All of these preferably with company!)

What’s your favorite hidden gem that you’ve discovered so far in Fargo?

Fargo has a really awesome theatre community, so be sure to take time this winter to fight the winter blues and escape from the cold with a good show! Between area high schools and theatre companies, be sure to watch Facebook events, and posters tacked up in your area coffee shops!
Side Note: My favorite coffee shop is Stumbeanos (But Atomic kicks butt for the best hours!), and boutique is Others!

How did you first hear of Emerging Prairie?

In high school I was involved in Fargo’s Youth Commission, Fargo Youth Initiative, and they paid for us to attend TEDxFargo. (If you can gift a young person anything, gift them access to TEDxFargo + bring them to 1MillionCups!) My freshman year of college I was reintroduced to EP after years of watching their work, and was recommended to the Intern Program by a gal I really looked up to in high school. This connection eventually led to my first summer interning on the events team!

As a new member of the EP team, what are you most looking forward to?
I’ve only ever been through the hustle that is the summer events cycle, so I’m looking forward to watching and being a part of Emerging Prairie through each season.
