Emerging Prairie is excited to welcome Hailee Meiners to the team! Hailee joins us as one of our two Grand Farm Field Technicians, here she will help assist setups and maintenance, as well as various data collections from agricultural demonstration and field trial plots. Her role will integrate practical farm management with hands-on experience in agricultural field research, involving active fieldwork and machinery operation.

Read more below about why Hailee is excited to join the EP team!

Tell us a little bit about you!

I grew up in northern Colorado on a small hobby farm and participated in 4-H with animals. I then went to Dallas, Texas for 2 years of school and then transferred back to CSU to finish my degree in Soil and Crop Science. I moved to the FM area to pursue a job with the USDA ARS Sunflower Breeding Program. I worked with the USDA for almost 3 years before transitioning to Emerging Prairie.

What college did you attend? What was your major?

Bachelor in Soil and Crop Science with a concentration in plant breeding, genetics, and Biotechnology!

What’s one activity that energizes you?

Hiking and camping, anything with being active and outdoors!

If you could take a 30 day, all expense paid vacation, where or how would you spend your time?

Spend it traveling around Japan to experience historic and current culture as well as visiting some of the gardens and scenic sites on the various islands. I would also love to get in depth experiences with their garden, agriculture, and rural lifestyle.

Do you have a favorite book or movie?

Hard to choose just one. I like a lot of the movies with Hugh Jackman

What’s your favorite part about living in the FM area? What’s your favorite hidden gem that Fargo has to offer?

The combination of agriculture and rural lifestyles meeting with urban commodities. Emerging prairie is a great example of this. Some of the art exhibits and decor at the West Acres Mall can be very impressive as well as inspiring. The downtown area is also consistently active which is great with all the farmers markets and other popular events.

Tell us one random fact about yourself!

I love all kinds of dog training. I really want to start training my current dog in herding (but it is difficult to find a trainer in the area.) Maybe one day I’ll be able to make it work or start a community around it here!

Why are you excited to work for Emerging Prairie?

Excited for the opportunity to continue working with research and hopefully making more of a practical and meaningful impact on agriculture as a whole.
