Our Emerging Prairie team is on the grow! Meet our newest teammate: Katie Worral. Katie joins the team in a new role: Communications Coordinator. As Fargo native, Katie brings her love of Fargo to the team and will be guiding Emerging Prairie’s communication to the community.  Katie graduated from NDSU with a degree in Public Relations and Advertising. She’s had her hands in a number of community-driven projects and startups over the years (including the development of the Hammock Initiative and TEDxFargo to name a couple). She is a self-starter with a passion for innovative ideas and turning them into exciting and vivid concepts. Welcome to the team, Katie, we can’t wait to see you grow into your role.

Meet Katie

Nickname: My full name is Kaitlin but everyone calls me Katie!

Hometown: Fargo, ND

What’s one thing about Fargo you wish non-natives knew or understood about the area?

Don’t let the cold winters and lack of elevation fool you – Fargo is one of the most beautiful places you’ll find yourself in. And you’ll discover the beauty in the people you meet (and the killer sunrises and sunsets, of course). The more you invest yourself into Fargo, the more likely you are to run into new friends around town (yes, even when you’re on a late night ice cream run to the grocery store in sweatpants). What could be more beautiful than the ability to find community wherever you go?

What do you do in your free time?

You can typically find me camped out in a coffee shop or hammock reading and spending time with family and friends. Otherwise, I try to travel whenever I get the chance and love spending time hiking in the mountains.

What’s your favorite hidden gem that you’ve discovered so far in Fargo?

A few years back, I started a weekly tradition called “Katie Time.” I block out a couple hours to find a nook in town, leave my phone at home and take some time to slow down. One of my favorite places for this is at Lindenwood Park. There are hidden hammock spots along the river that are perfect for reflection and relaxation.

How did you first hear of Emerging Prairie?

I believe my first engagement with Emerging Prairie was at a TEDxFargo event.

As a new member of the EP team, what are you most looking forward to?

I’m looking forward to working with an energizing team that is a part of an even more energizing community. There are so many incredible things happening in Fargo, and I’m really excited to be in a position where I am able to creatively tell the story of Emerging Prairie and therefore our community – cheers to connecting and celebrating!

Be sure to welcome Katie when you see her around at 1 Million Cups Fargo and other Emerging Prairie events!
