Spotlight Media has officially launched Fargo Inc!, their first business-focused publication. The magazine, which will come out each month, can be viewed online for free (although you have to subscribe in order to view it.)

Fargo INC!

The magazine features people and companies from all over Fargo-Moorhead, highlighting how each of them contribute to the thriving business community.

“I honestly think we could fill each magazine with 500 pages of exciting stories about Fargo business,” said Publisher Mike Dragosavich. “We are excited to try to get there.”

Dragosavich goes on to explain that he has hand-picked more than 5,000 business owners and professionals to receive a free print subscription of Fargo INC! for the year.

“That way,” he writes, “We can ensure that the right influencers are reading our content.”

Another 10,000 issues will be distributed in places around the community, he added, particularly in places like local college business schools and larger employers. You can subscribe to get 12 issues of Fargo INC! magazine delivered to you for $29.99 a year.

Putting the ! in Fargo INC!

Dragosavich stressed that they don’t want Fargo INC! to be a light read over coffee, and that’s that. He wants to see action come as a result of the content.

“We are on a mission to not only inform, but also impact,” he writes.

For example, in this issue they feature a segment called “Mentor Meetup” where Fargo INC! connects young entrepreneurs with a seasoned veteran in a similar industry. (Here, it’s Jake Joraanstad, Co-founder and CEO of mobile app company Myriad Mobile, and Lydia Jacobson and Alayna Holskevig who won Women’s Startup Weekend for their app, Outside the Grid.)

Over coffee, the mentor answers questions and offers advice, all of which is turned into a story for Fargo INC!. More than that, Dragosavich hopes it turns into a fruitful relationship as well.

Fargo INC! Editor, Nate Mickelberg, recently joined the Spotlight Media team after working as a reporter for the Medill News Service in Chicago. Through his work with Fargo INC!, already he writes about the collaborative spirit in business that so many have praised in Fargo.

“Where the old approach often encouraged the withholding of information…the Fargo entrepreneurial community is proof positive that when businesses connect and have conversations, everybody wins.”

A variety of content

The first issue features profiles on Craig Whitney, North Dakota Chamber of Commerce; Jim Gartin, Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Center; Joe Burgum, Folkways; Greg Tehven, Emerging Prairie; Tonya Stende, Dale Carnegie Training; Chuck Hoge, NDSU Research and Tech Park,  James Burgum, Arthur Ventures; Harlan Goerger, CEO Solutions, and Josh Christy, Codelation.
