Meet John

Joe Heilman, general manager of Intelligent Ag, is an alumnus of North Dakota State University. He was Student Body President of NDSU for the 2008-2009 academic year. He plays the accordion, enjoys RC aircraft, is a lawn care nut, and is a farm kid from Rugby, North Dakota. His motivated and amazing team at Intelligent Ag make him excited to go to work every day. If his incredible team wasn’t enough, he also gets to be a part of smart machines that could potentially allow him to farm his 4th generation family farm in Rugby, ND right from here in Fargo, North Dakota!

About Intelligent Ag

Intelligent Ag was actually founded as a Joint Venture between Appareo and Amity Technologies but in 2014 AGCO Corporation bought Amity’s half of the business. Intelligent Ag was created to solve difficult problems of agriculture that need to be done using an “evergreen” source of funds. These types of funds allow highly innovative and risky programs to move forward with the venture and learn through trial and error. Joe explains what Intelligent Ag is all about by saying, “Intelligent Ag exists to redefine technology in agriculture and solve really big challenges in the industry.”

Intelligent Ag thinks it’s important to reinvest all available profits into upcoming research and development to encourage the introduction of new technologies at high velocities. Joe states, “We will be an enabler of machine intelligence, piece-by-piece, until I can farm the family farm in Rugby from here in Fargo.” Intelligent Ag works to increase profits for their customers by limiting waste, improving yield, and increasing efficiency. Whether it’s a new machine or upgrading an old machine’s technology, Intelligent Ag is focused on helping growers get more from their equipment. Their mission is to be a “World leading innovator of game-changing agricultural products and services.”
