million_cups_June11_-11A tech-based startup was once again the topic of discussion at 1 Million Cups Fargo last week. Saurabh Tyagi of Medytex presented his company to the crowd of more than 160 attendees. The survey app for healthcare providers is beginning to pick up steam.

Since its conception at Startup Weekend Fargo 2013, the folks behind the idea to create a user-friendly feedback app have shifted their focus from restaurants to the healthcare industry based on suggestions from the community. This suggestion was backed by data they found as well. According to Tyagi, a study of 900 patients found that only 10-20 of them returned the paper survey that was sent to them by a healthcare provider after their visit.

After recently being admitted to the NDSU Incubator, Medytex is looking to put its greatest effort into Fargo-Moorhead area providers before they expand. With beta testing beginning this week, Tyagi believes his company has a lot to offer healthcare providers. His goal of a 50 percent response rate among patients would give providers a much greater sampling to use as a tool to improve their services.

Questions and suggestions from the audience gave insight as to what Medytex’s future might hold. For example, Tyagi heard suggestions to make sure the hardware used at the healthcare facility to administrate the survey is made to be resistant to transmissible illnesses.
