You may have seen him speak at 1 Million Cups, but this Aussie is back to join us as a Startup Drinks Captain tomorrow night.  Martin Olsen is the founder of eOne Solutions, a software development company that has offices in Sydney, Australia and Fargo, North Dakota.

“We must be the only company in the world that ended up with a business card that reads Sydney, Fargo,” he said.

1.     Do you have a nickname? If so, what is it?

I have had some serious name issues since moving to the USA. It turns out that my pronunciation of Martin is very difficult for people to understand – especially the fedex guy. Apparently I have issues with the letter ‘r’.  So my new name is Marrrrrtin.

2.     Any awkward tattoos?

I have no tattoos. I am yet to find anything so profound that I would want it permanently printed on my body!

3.     If you could describe your startup as an animal what animal would it be? 

Platypus.  We are a little different to every other business and will evolve to adopt the best ideas from other businesses, and yet stay very individual.

4.     What is one of the most influential books you’ve ever read?

Blind Faith by Ben Elton. It was a way out satirical exaggeration in 2009 that is closer to reality than anyone hoped.

 

5.     If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

Fiji

6.     What is one the coolest places you’ve traveled?

Kathmandu.
