About Wes

Wes Sanda is the CEO and President of NorthStar Biotechnologies. When I asked him about his college experience he replied with, “Should I go through the laundry list?” and he wasn’t kidding! Wes attended Mayville State University for Business, has an undergraduate degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, an Accounting degree from the University of Wisconsin, and a master’s degree in organizational Behavior from Bethel University in Saint Paul. Wes loves airplanes and was able to apply all of that schooling into his own plane company! Wes explained, “I got to be the chief engineer, and I hired 18 different consultants that would work with me on different engineering projects. We redesigned the airplane from the ground up, and the fun story is, we literally “hot-rodded” it and it was the most fun thing I ever did in my whole life.”

About NorthStar Biotechnologies

NorthStar Biotechnologies is a hemp science company. Wes explains, “That means we’re a seed company on the front end and a help oil refinery on the back end, and those bookends provide the much-needed stability and structure for a rapidly expanding field that is crying out for our services.” NorthStar Biotechnologies helps farmers by providing genetic seed specific to this region and establishing a co-op network to make additional processing options available. Wes expands, “Finally, our refinery will provide our partners, and ultimately consumers, the quality, quantity and consistency that they’re not able to get on the open market, today.” NorthStar Biotechnologies was founded by Wes Sanda and Brian Brinkworth just after the farm bill passed last year. Their mission is to “be a seed genetics company and industrial scale refinery that supplies quality, quantity and consistency of cannabinoids to the global market”.
