The Fargo-Moorhead West Fargo Economic Development Corporation received the North Dakota IT Champion award today at the State of Technology 2016.

The award goes to an individual or entity that has championed the promotion and use of technology or delivery of technology to North Dakota citizens.

“The EDC’s activities have elevated the recognition of the state and the region across the country,” said Sycorr president Jeremy Neuharth.

This past year the EDC has provided sponsorship and organizational support for a variety of events and groups focused on tech entrepreneurship; including 1 Million Cups Fargo, Startup Weekend, Tech.Co Startup of the Year awards, Emerging Prairie and many others.

Other awards were the Premier IT Business award, given to marco technology company, and the technology innovator award, which went to the State Historical Society of North Dakota.

The awards were set up in 2001 and celebrate leaders in technology, and companies who are using technological innovation as a means for growth. Last year the IT Champion award was awarded  to Emerging Prairie executive director Greg Tehven.
