Meet Abdishakur, a current student of Emerging Digital Academy’s Gosling cohort!

Where were you born and where did you grow up?

I was born in Narobi, Kenya and grew up in the Pacific Northwest of America.

Why Emerging Digital Academy?

I was looking for better career opportunities, and was also wanting to pick up a new skill.

What were you doing before joining EDA?

I was a security guard.

What’s your ideal occupation after graduating from EDA? Are there any companies you would love to work for?

My ideal occupation is junior developer. I don’t have a specific company in mind, but for my first job I would hope to work for a company that isn’t too big and has smaller teams.

What’s the most interesting or surprising part about your time at Emerging Digital Academy so far?

I am surprised by how support-structured based it is. I knew coming in that I would get some support, but it has exceeded my expectations by a lot.

What are your hobbies outside of the coding academy?

I love reading, cooking new things, playing basketball and video games every once in a while.

Is there any advice you’d give to somebody thinking about joining Emerging Digital Academy?

It’s difficult but having the dedication to see it through will get you a long way.
