mcnealyIt has just been announced that Sun Microsystems co-founder and technology magnate Scott McNealy will be visiting Fargo to speak at TEDx on Friday, August 9th. This news comes on the heels of an already star-packed week for TEDx and the upcoming Health Pitch event, both to be hosted in downtown Fargo.

McNealy co-founded Sun Microsystems in 1982 after completing his education at Harvard University and the Stanford Graduate School of Business. McNealy left Sun when it was acquired by Oracle in 2010, after serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors for over a decade, and as CEO for over two decades. Today, McNealy is Chairman of the Board for Wayin, a Denver-based social media branding company.

On the topic of TEDxFargo’s “Rethink Learning” theme, McNealy serves on the Board of Curriki, which is is an open community of educators, parents, and students who share free, open educational resources online.  The site is the leading repository of free and open curriculum materials for K-12 education in the United States. McNealy has been a thought leader in technology and its impact on quality and access in education.
